Referrals still drive the real estate business, but word of mouth has gone digital. Consumers begin their search for products and services online and rely heavily on testimonials when making purchase decisions.
If your brand lacks testimonials or is plagued by negative reviews, your business will suffer. So what can you do to increase the number of positive testimonials that you receive?
1. Ask for online reviews.
Closing a transaction? Giving professional advice to a client or colleague? It doesn’t hurt to ask for a testimonial and emphasize how important reviews are to your business.
2. Create a call to action (CTA).
Add a testimonial CTA button to your website, advertisements, email newsletter and social media campaigns. Connect your CTA to a landing page that includes positive testimonials (as examples). And consider incorporating a form template to make the process as easy as possible.
3. Send specific follow-up questions.
Asking for testimonials at closing can tap into the enthusiasm of the moment. But such requests are often forgotten in all the excitement. Following up at a later date adds a personal touch and makes the process easier for clients.
Use open-ended questions to encourage elaboration. For example, instead of asking if the client was satisfied with your service, ask what made your services unique.
4. Use surveys to gauge customer satisfaction.
Ask clients to rate different aspects of your service. If they’re satisfied, ask for a positive testimonial. If not, take the opportunity to address their complaints and reduce the likelihood of a negative online review.
5. Screenshot and share positive comments/reviews.
Set up Google Alerts and monitor social media for positive conversation surrounding your brand. When you see something you like, take a screenshot. Just be sure to ask the client’s permission before sharing.
